Air Filter Replacement Service

If you notice that your heating or cooling system isn't operating quite as well as it used to, the problem might boil down to a clogged air filter. The air filter, which is responsible for catching things like pollen, dust, mites, and bacteria, keeps those same things from polluting the air in your home. When that air filter becomes full, an air filter replacement becomes necessary, where the old filter is removed a new, clean filter is installed in its place.

Air circulation and air quality benefit tremendously from a clean air filter. When there are smokers, pets, or other people or things in the home that create dander or decrease air quality, the air filter is able to catch some of the bad stuff so it stops circulating in your home. Those who suffer from allergies also see the benefit in that there's less in the air to cause irritation.

Have an air filter that potentially needs replaced? Kulla Heating & Air is the company for the job. Contact us by calling 952-985-1193, or by completing the contact form on our website.

Heating & Cooling: Reducing Your Heating Bill

During the cold months, many of us will see an increase in our heating bills, thanks to the lower outside temperatures. The U.S. Department of Energy reports that about 43% of utility costs go toward heating and cooling, and more Americans are unprepared for the additional costs that go with keeping their home warm.

Here are a few simple ways you can reduce your heating bills:

Use Available Resources
You can save nearly 10% a year by buying a programmable thermostat which will automatically turn down the heating at night or when you're not at home. Set the thermostat to a low, comfortable setting and wear warmer clothing and make use of blankets.

Insulation
Without proper insulation, you can lose up to 60% of warm air can be lost even before it reaches the register. The ducts in your attic and crawlspace should be sealed, otherwise, you'll waste both money and energy.

Another area to insulate is the water heater. You can purchase an insulation blankets are not very expensive and typically under $20, and are specifically designed to reduce the loss of heat.

Clean Filters & Registers
Make sure to clean or replace furnace filters as needed. Many HVAC contractors can perform this job for you if you're not sure how. Also, clean your registers throughout your home, like baseboard heaters and radiators. Make sure these areas aren't blocked by furniture, drapes or any other obstructions.

Heating & Cooling Tips: Keeping Your System Going Through the Winter

With winter here, it's important to ensure your heating system is in order. During these cold months, your heater or furnace will become the primarily lifeblood of your home, and one of your biggest costs will more than likely be the expenses associated with heating your home. Here are some tips to help you get through the winter without having to spend an arm and a leg.

Service on a routine basis
The ideal times to have your heating system looked at. While you can handle basis maintenance, an annual inspection is important in order to avoid any costly repairs. Having a certified HVAC contractor can find potential issues before they become major repair costs.

Ceiling fans
Use ceiling fans to blow air upward during these cooler times. Reversing the fan's direction moves the air upward, which is great for rooms with high or vaulted ceilings where heat naturally rises and is pushed back down.

Inspect your heating vents
Ensure all your heating vents are opened and not blocked by items like furniture. This will allow your home to receive an even distribution of air. If there are rooms in your home not being used, close those vents in order to cut down on what you spend on energy costs.
